Turkey Digital Nomad Visa 2026: $3,000 Income, Age Rules & Residence Steps
2026
08 Sep
Turkey's Digital Nomad Visa, launched in April 2024, is in 2026 the only official long-stay route for remote workers in Istanbul and Antalya. After tightening of tourist residence renewals, freelancers need the Digital Nomad Identification Certificate via GoTurkiye before a consulate visa and a short-term residence permit.
This 2026 guide from Gars Turkish residence services covers age 21-55, university degree, $3,000 foreign income, 36 eligible nationalities and the full GoTurkiye to Goc Idaresi workflow. See also our Turkey residence hub.
1. Who the Visa Is For
Remote employees and freelancers working exclusively for non-Turkish employers or clients. Any Turkish-source work disqualifies you and requires a separate work permit.
- 100% foreign-source income proven by contracts and bank statements.
- University degree mandatory; vocational certificates usually rejected.
- Certificate alone is not residence; you must apply for ikamet after entry.
2. 2026 Eligibility Matrix
| Criterion | 2026 Requirement |
|---|---|
| Age | 21-55 strictly enforced, no waivers |
| Income | $3,000/month or $36,000/year foreign-source, 3-6 months bank statements |
| Nationality | 36 countries: USA, UK, Canada, EU/EEA, Russia, Ukraine, Belarus |
| Insurance | Must cover full requested permit duration and state residency in Turkey |
3. Application Steps
- Online certificate: Upload passport, diploma, contract, income proof and photo to GoTurkiye.
- Consulate visa: Present originals plus certificate and attend interview.
- Entry and ikamet: Apply for short-term residence via e-ikamet with notarized rental contract and fees.
- Address registration: Register at Nufus within 20 days or risk cancellation.
4. Tax After 183 Days
Under 183 days you remain non-resident with no Turkish tax on foreign income. At 183+ days you become tax resident at 15%-40% on work physically performed in Turkey. The 20-year exemption under Law 7582 covers foreign passive income only, not remote work done from Turkey, and needs a tax office certificate.
5. How Gars Helps

- Residence health insurance compliant with Goc Idaresi.
