Student residence is mandatory in 2026 for any foreigner studying over 90 days in Turkey under the Migration-YOK protocol (Nov 2023): apply online via e-Ikamet, then file through the university, no Migration visit unless summoned.

1. 2026 Documents & 964 TL Fee

2. SGK 3-Month Window
Apply to SGK within 3 months of first enrollment and use the application/provision document instead of private insurance; missing it makes private insurance compulsory. Compare options in 2026 health insurance guide.
3. Transfers, Work & Graduation
- Same province: notify university within 20 days; new province: new e-Ikamet filing within 10 days.
- Work: needs separate work permit; undergrad work only after year one.
- After graduation: stay till card expiry, then short-term residence within 6 months; each higher degree gives a fresh right.
